Description
Etafilcon A material is a copolymer of 2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate (2-HEMA) and methacrylic acid (MAA). The copolymer consists of 42% etafilcon A and 58% water by weight when immersed in buffered normal saline. The lens polymer contains a benzotriazole UV-absorbing compound to block UV radiation. These lenses are colored with a light blue tint for ease of handling. The tint of the lenses may be slightly reduced after repeated disinfection. A slight reduction in tint will not affect the safety or performance of the tint.
NOTE: UV-ABSORBING CONTACT LENSES ARE NOT
A SUBSTITUTE FOR UV PROTECTION GLASSES, SUCH AS UV FILTER GOGGLES OR MASKS, SINCE THEY DO NOT COMPLETELY COVER THE EYE OR THE AREA AROUND IT.
